Repository Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

Dampak: Jurnal Teknik Lingkungan of Universitas Andalas supports open access and aims to make the research it publishes as widely visible and useful as possible. Authors are encouraged to place their articles in institutional repositories and other non-commercial repositories of their choosing. This policy explains how authors may archive and share the different versions of their work. It is intended to be clear and author-friendly, and it is consistent with the journal’s CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, under which authors retain copyright.

At a glance
  • All three article versions may be deposited in repositories.
  • Deposit is limited to non-commercial locations.
  • Accepted and Published Versions carry the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
  • Every deposit must cite the journal and link to the published article.

2. Article Versions

For the purposes of this policy, the journal recognizes three versions of an article:

Version Also labeled as Definition
Submitted Version Preprint The manuscript as first sent to the journal, before formal peer review.
Accepted Version Accepted Manuscript The manuscript after peer review and the authors’ revisions in response to reviewers, but before copyediting, typesetting, and final formatting by the journal.
Published Version Version of Record The final, citable article as published by the journal, with copyediting, typesetting, formatting, and a DOI.

3. Licensing and Rights

Authors may deposit any of the three versions in a repository under the conditions set out in this policy.

  • Accepted and Published Versions are deposited under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.
  • Authors may share preprints under terms of their own choosing before any publication agreement. Once a preprint is tied to a published article in the journal, authors should keep in mind how the license affects later versions.
  • Authors retain copyright and the right to self-archive their articles.

4. Where Articles May Be Deposited

Location Notes
Personal website The author’s non-commercial personal website, such as a blog or academic profile page
Institutional repository The repository of the author’s affiliation
Subject repository Non-commercial repositories relevant to the author’s field of study
Journal website The Published Version is freely available here by default
Other platforms Platforms such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, or Mendeley, as long as the deposited content is handled on a non-commercial basis

5. Conditions for Every Deposit

When a deposited article is linked to the published article, the following must be met:

  1. Cite the journal as the original source, with a full bibliographic reference.
  2. Acknowledge the authors’ copyright.
  3. Provide a permanent link, preferably the DOI, to the final article on the journal’s website.
  4. State clearly that the Accepted and Published Versions are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

6. Preservation by the Journal

In addition to author deposits, the journal preserves its back issues and current articles on several servers, following the LOCKSS principle. Copies are held in the Universitas Andalas repository and the university’s Local Content Collection, and are submitted to Indonesia OneSearch. The journal also takes part in the PKP Private LOCKSS Network for long-term preservation.

7. Author Responsibilities

  • Compliance: authors must ensure that their archiving practices follow this policy, the terms of the license, and any institutional or funder requirements.
  • Version labels: authors should label each deposited file with its version (for example, “Preprint,” “Accepted Manuscript,” or “Version of Record”) so readers understand its status.
  • Reuse: the license permits reuse for non-commercial purposes only, and users must attribute the authors and the journal. Commercial use requires separate permission from the copyright holders, who are the authors.
  • Related pages: this policy should be read together with the journal’s Rights and Licences page and Open Access Statement.
  • Funder requirements: the policy is meant to help authors meet the open access and self-archiving requirements of their funders.

8. Questions and Contact

Authors with questions about this policy or about a specific archiving situation can contact the editorial office of Dampak: Jurnal Teknik Lingkungan. Contact details are on the journal website.
